Privacy Policy
Effective and last updated: July 28, 2026.
This Privacy Policy explains how Islamly (“Islamly,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, stores, and protects information when you use the Islamly mobile application, website, and related services (the “Services”). It also explains your choices and privacy rights. Where consent is required, we request it separately.
Information we collect
Account and profile information. If you create or use an account, we may process your Firebase user ID, email address, authentication provider, display name, username, profile photo URL, and profile preferences. Authentication may use email/password, Google, Apple, or an anonymous account.
Location and place information. With permission, Islamly may access precise or approximate device location to calculate prayer times and Qibla direction, identify your city, show weather, and find nearby masjids or halal places. Search text, coordinates, and related requests may be sent to location, mapping, weather, or geocoding providers. You may revoke location permission in device settings, but related features may be limited.
Worship, preference, and app-content data. The app may store settings, notification choices, bookmarks, favourites, reading goals and progress, tasbih counts, calendar reminders, and other feature state. Some data remains on your device; account sync data is stored in your private cloud account when sync is available.
Sensitive features. Hayd reflections and Dayn records may contain sensitive religious, health-related, financial, family, or personal information you choose to enter. Hayd data is designed for local storage. Dayn cloud backups are encrypted on the device before upload; the PIN-derived key is not sent to us. Wakeel recovery requires us to process designated contacts, recovery requests, encrypted recovery material, and evidence documents.
User content and social features. We process information submitted for masjids, halal places, advertisements, Qur'an reading groups, Halqahs, leaderboards, friendships, and invitations. This may include names, usernames, descriptions, schedules, locations, photos, completion activity, and membership. Content presented as public or shared is visible to the indicated audience. Halqah and reading-group cover images may be publicly accessible.
Communications and AI queries. Contact, advertising, and recovery forms may include your name, email, phone number, topic, message, and attachments. Text sent to Ask Islamly may be transmitted to our server and hosted AI provider to generate a response. Do not include unnecessary confidential or personal information in AI prompts.
Device and technical information. We and our providers may process push tokens, Firebase installation or app-attestation identifiers, device platform, IP address or a hashed form of it, timestamps, network status, and basic request or security logs. The current app build does not include an advertising SDK. We do not sell personal information or use it for cross-app behavioural advertising.
How we use information
We use information to provide and personalize features; authenticate users; sync data; calculate prayer times and Qibla; provide nearby search, weather, content, reminders, widgets, and notifications; operate social, submission, recovery, support, advertising-request, and AI features; maintain security; prevent abuse; troubleshoot; comply with law; and enforce our terms. Where applicable, our legal bases include contract performance, legitimate interests in operating and securing the Services, consent, and legal obligations.
When information is shared
We disclose information only as needed to operate the Services, at your direction, or as required by law. Providers may include Google Firebase and Google Cloud, Google and Apple sign-in, Google Places/Maps, OpenWeather, Photon/Komoot geocoding, OpenAI, Resend, and hosting or content-delivery providers. They process information under their own terms and privacy notices. We may also disclose information to protect users, investigate abuse, comply with legal process, or in a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards. Public and group content is shared with the audience indicated in the app.
Permissions and choices
Depending on your device and chosen features, Islamly may request location; notifications; camera and photo library; biometrics; motion or compass sensors; alarms, wake lock, vibration, audio, and background or foreground services; and network access. Manage permissions in device settings. You can manage notification channels, choose whether to sign in, and decide what content to submit.
Storage, retention, and security
Information may be stored on your device and on provider infrastructure. Firebase Authentication operates from the United States; other Firebase services may process data globally. We retain account and feature data while your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. Support, moderation, security, quota, transaction, and recovery records are retained as reasonably necessary for their purpose and legal obligations. Public content may remain until removed. Deleted data may persist temporarily in backups or provider systems.
We use reasonable safeguards, including access controls, transport encryption, Firebase security rules, app attestation, and client-side encryption for Dayn backups. No system is completely secure. Keep your credentials and Dayn PIN confidential.
Account deletion and privacy rights
You may request access, correction, export, restriction, objection, or deletion as applicable in your jurisdiction; withdraw consent; and complain to your data-protection authority. To request account and associated-data deletion, email either address below with “Islamly Account Deletion” as the subject. We may verify your identity. We may retain information required by law, security, or legal claims. Deleting the app does not delete cloud data.
Children and international processing
The Services are for a general audience and are not directed to children under 13, or the higher minimum age required in their country. If you believe a child provided information without required authorization, contact us. Information may be processed outside your country, including in the United States, using appropriate safeguards where required.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy and will revise the date above. Material changes may also be communicated in the app or by another appropriate method.
